KNOW

JESUS

Jesus, also known as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ, is the central figure in Christianity, recognized by most Christians as the Son of God and the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. The main sources about Jesus' life and teachings are the four Gospels of the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Here are some key aspects of His life with corresponding scripture verses:

Birth of Jesus: Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary, a virgin, by divine conception. This birth is called the nativity.

"She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21)

Teaching and Ministry: Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God and offered moral and ethical teachings. His teachings often used parables.

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 22:36-40)

Miracles: Jesus completed numerous miracles, healing the sick, feeding the multitudes, calming storms, and raising the dead.

"Then Jesus said to the centurion, 'Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.' And his servant was healed at that moment." (Matthew 8:13)

Death and Resurrection: Jesus was crucified under Pontius Pilate. Three days after his death, he resurrected.

"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." (Matthew 28:6)

Ascension: After appearing to his followers for forty days after his resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven.

"After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight." (Acts 1:9)

Promise of Return: He promised to return one day to fulfil the remainder of Messianic prophecy.

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." (John 14:3)

These are only a few aspects of Jesus' life, teachings, and importance within Christianity. The actual depth and breadth of His life and teachings are far more extensive, as recorded in the Gospels and other texts in the New Testament.

HOW TO BE SAVED

Becoming a Christian is the most important decision you will make in your life. Being a Christian fundamentally involves accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, acknowledging your sins, and believing in the redemption offered through His death and resurrection. The process is broadly framed within the New Testament. Here are the key steps, along with corresponding Scripture verses:

Acknowledge Sin: Recognize and confess that you are a sinner, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

Repent of Sin: Show a change of heart and decide to turn away from sin.

"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." (Acts 3:19)

Believe in Jesus: Believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son, that He died for your sins, and that God raised Him to life.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

Confess Faith in Jesus Christ: Profess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

Live According to God's Word: As a Christian, strive to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." (Colossians 2:6-7)

Join a Community of Believers: Christians are encouraged to be baptized, join a local church, and seek fellowship with other believers for growth and encouragement.

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25)

The decision to become a Christian is deeply personal and transformative. It marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith and relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
